"Grace VanderWaal Performs in Macy's Parade Five Years After Watching from Crowd!
Grace VanderWaal just performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time and it’s such a cool moment as she was once a spectator at the event! The 12-year-old America’s Got Talent winner posted to Instagram about how she was in the crowd at the parade five years ago. “Happy Thanksgiving everyone I’m so thankful for everyone’s support!!! 5 years ago when I was 7 I watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from the stands I would never think that today I would be in it. So, eat until you can’t eat anymore and be thankful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” (Justjaredjr.com 24-Nov-2016)
Grace performed I Don't Know My Name, the song was lipsynched.
In a live with her sister Olivia, the night before the release of her single "Repeat" (April 15, 2021), Grace explained that this was the only time she had lip-synched. It was very auqward because she did it to the studio track from the EP, not to a track recorded for lip-synching. That made it even more obvious that she was not singing live. But all the artists did it, because the could not make the sound good if the sang live from the floats.
Grace ”…was shown on the broadcast at 10:52 a.m. with her ukulele, sporting a pair of cat earmuffs, singing “I Don’t Know My Name,” in front of Macy’s iconic Herald Square location. … GoldieBlox is a company that creates toys, games, and entertainment for girls, designed to develop an early interest in engineering.” (Lohud 2016-11-24).
